INTRODUCING KLM PILATES

As a qualified Stott Pilates Instructor since 2010, I have been working with clients for over 10 years. I am fully certified in Matwork, Reformer, Cadillac, Chair and Barrels and I help clients to be pain free and to reach fitness goals. I am also trained in pre and post natal matwork and breast cancer rehab. 

My classes are relaxed yet energising and I create a fun environment to achieve your fitness goals, whether its in a group class or in a private lesson.

ABOUT KLM PILATES

As well as teaching group classes at local studios in the area, I also have my own Reformer studio at home, where I offer private sessions. Most recently, I am also offering a few zoom classes too.

I have been practising pilates for 16 years and teaching since 2010 and really do believe in it. I trained as a dancer and musical theatre performer and it was my ballet training that first introduced me to pilates, and I have loved it ever since.

After teaching at some prestigious studios all over London, including OneKX (Stott Pilates' training Centre), I am now based in Chalkwell, Essex. As of September 2017, Ive been busy teaching private and group classes all around Leigh on Sea.

MATWORK PILATES

I teach matwork Pilates at Studios in the local area. I’m part of the team at the beautiful studio Anahata Yoga Centre and also at the gorgeous Shambhala Studio (both Leigh on Sea). You may also see my name pop up for cover at other studios in the area. 

REFORMER PILATES

I teach private Matwork and Reformer Tower classes in my home studio. Classes can include the Stability Chair and also a Cardio Tramp so there are lots of variety to the exercises I teach. I am also available for matwork lessons at your own home, in which I bring everything you need.

POST NATAL PILATES 

Post Natal Pilates really does have so many benefits and I can’t recommend it enough. From strengthening muscle connections that were lost during pregnancy to re- educating posture due to changes in the body. For me, just being able to think about my body and fully breathe in a class (or for 5 minutes) was so important. At the moment, I am offering this class on zoom and also you can receive a recording of the class to do in your own time.

Thursday 9:15-10:15am-Post Natal Pilates. Friday 10:00-11:00am- Power Pilates. 
*Both of these are taught over zoom and you can receive the recording which lasts 7 days.*
Private and Duet lessons- Availability on a Thursday and Friday afternoon and a Saturday morning. 

COMMON QUESTIONS

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN STOTT PILATES AND OTHER PILATES TECHNIQUES?


Stott Pilates incorporates modern exercise principles, including contemporary thinking about spinal rehabilitation and athletic performance enhancement. For example, some approaches may promote a flat back, whereas STOTT PILATES exercises are designed to restore the natural curves of the spine and rebalance the muscles around the joints, placing more emphasis on scapular stabilization. As well, there are more preparatory exercises and modifications to cater to many different body types and abilities, making it applicable to everyday life.

WHAT ARE THE PRINCIPLES OF STOTT PILATES? 

TOTT PILATES exercise improves core strength and balances the muscles around the joints, improving the way your body functions, looks and feels. The Five Basic Principles focus on:
Breathing
Pelvis placement
Rib cage placement
Scapular movement
Head & cervical spine placement

IS PILATES LIKE YOGA? 

n some respects Pilates is like Yoga. Both are considered mind-body type methods of movement; both emphasize deep breathing and smooth, long movements that encourage the mind-body connection. The difference is that while Yoga requires moving from one static posture to the next, Pilates flows through a series of movements that are more dynamic and systematic.

HOW LONG BEFORE I SEE RESULTS? 

The average active person doing 2-3 classes per week should see some results within 10-12 classes. This will vary depending on each individual and other factors such as the number of classes a person takes each week, whether they are private or group classes, whether they participate in other physical activities, and whether they have any existing injuries.

DO I NEED TO BRING ANYTHING? 

I have everything you need, including mats, blocks and equipment.

WHAT DO I WEAR? 

Anything you feel comfortable in and can move in. The lesson will be done barefoot/in socks. 

WHAT COVID 19 MEASURES DO YOU HAVE IN PLACE? 

Before you enter the studio, your temperature will be taken and hand gel will be required. There is a canvas bag to put your belongings into that can be cleaned afterwards. Throughout the class I will wear a visor or mask. I have new adjustable covers for the hand straps and feet straps that are cleaned and swapped after every client. As well as the normal practise of wiping down all equipment after the class. 
There are also zoom classes available if you are shielding or don’t feel comfortable having a ‘live’ class.
